Fiber Optic WAN Upgrade
Initial Customer Environment:
Medical Imaging facility with 4 locations & broadband cable Internet
with IPSec VPN tunnels between offices and trusted outside nodes,
firewalls are configured for port forwarding and 1-to-1 NAT.
Foreseen Problem:
Converting
to digital imaging from film—transferring this data between offices as
well as to and from outside entities. With their current topology, this
will result in extremely slow transfer rates and decreased Internet
access speeds.
Resolution:
Installed
Point to Point fiber optic connection between offices and fiber optic
Internet into main location utilizing IPSec VPN tunnels for outside
entities only.
Results:
Internal network up to 10x faster, more secure data transmissions, 4x
faster Internet speeds to main office. Speed increases resulted in
higher productivity, less downtime, better network support through
provider, decreased overhead on existing firewalls, no longer a need for
separate cable Internet in 2 of the 4 locations, resulting in dramatic
monthly savings. |
